Introduction to Email Lists in Marketing

Email lists have been an integral part of marketing campaigns for decades! It is a method of reaching out to a targeted audience with messages that are tailored to their interests.

We use the term 'pain points' in marketing to describe the problems your prospective clients are looking to solve.

All types of businesses, both virtual and bricks and mortar, collect email addresses through sign-ups, subscriptions, or lead generation campaigns.

Did you sign up for our FREE course module? That is an example of a lead generation campaign!
We know from experience that offering a free and valuable resource, that solves a problem for your community, is one step toward building rapport, getting feedback and creating conversation.

This leads to sales conversions.

Using your collected email addresses to send newsletters, promotional offers, or other value based content supports your community AND showcases how you can help them!

That is the beauty of the email list.

Holistic health practitioners, like you, are in the business of helping people. How can you help people when they don't have a deep understanding of who you are, and what you stand for?

Email marketing strategies allows you to align with your audience, with strategy and integrity.

You can get really detailed with email marketing, by segmenting your lists, based on demographics, interests, or previous interactions with your business and  brand.

Or you can start simple, with a newsletter sign up.

Let's face it, your customer or client is pretty internet savvy. They need a good reason to sign up to your newsletter. Giving them a free resource is one way to welcome new people into your community, and onto your email list.

Do you have some great tips, recipes, or other resources you can give to your clients?

Turn that into a simple free resource, and offer it in exchange for an email address.

This is the beginning of a simple funnel strategy to align with the right people. The people who WANT and NEED what you have.

I know, we make it sound simple. There are a few nuances to getting started with email marketing, and each email platform is different.

Is email marketing STILL effective?

We'll admit, the effectiveness of email marketing has been declining in recent years.

Spam filters have become more sophisticated, and people are overwhelmed with the number of emails they receive daily.

As a result, fewer people are opening and engaging with marketing emails.

This is why building a simple funnel, with a very valuable free resource, AND valuable and actionable follow up content, will make your email community look forward to opening every email from you!

Is There a Limitations of Email Lists?

Everything has its limitations, and it's positive sides!

One of the limitations of email lists is that they are limited to the people who have opted in.

Businesses cannot reach out to people who have not given them permission to do so.

This means that they are missing out on a large portion of their potential audience.

Another limitation of email lists is that they are subject to spam filters. Even if you have permission to send emails, your messages may end up in the spam folder, which reduces the chances of them being seen by the recipient.

A good email marketing platform helps you avoid that!

The Upside to Email Lists

Despite its limitations, email marketing has loads of benefits!

The biggest pro to an email list is this:

You OWN your leads.

YOU own those addresses.

If you are building your business on social, that platform owns your contacts.

And, they can shut you down at any time.

We're not saying don't use social media.

The truth is, you need to be in multiple places for visibility, no matter if you are virtual, or in a physical location.

Businesses are turning to new strategies to reach their audience.

Social media marketing, influencer marketing, and content marketing are just a few examples of the new tactics that are gaining popularity.

Those, and lip syncing to music, and dancing on TikTok.

These are all fine, if you enjoy them, and find they fit into your overall marketing strategy.

Many influencers and coaches are harnessing affiliate marketing and partnering with businesses they feel aligned with.

We can't discard content marketing!

However, that email list will deliver that fabulous content, to people that really want to hear what you have to say!

You'll also have a chance to build a deeper rapport with your prospective clients.

While social media marketing allows businesses to reach a broader audience that may not have opted-in to their email list, it doesn't always equate sales.

The Future of Marketing without Email Lists

The future of ANY kind of marketing and visibility plan will involve a combination of different strategies.

We firmly believe email marketing will continue to be a part of this mix. Whether it will be your primary strategy depends on your ideal client, and their demographic.

Yes, you may need to embrace new strategies to reach a broader audience and build relationships with your people.

Whether or not that involves memes and TikToks, that's totally up to you!

With the rising trend of artificial intelligence (AI), you have the opportunity to personalize your messages and build your audience more effectively.

By paying attention to your insights and metrics, you can  analyze data and make informed decisions about all your marketing plans, big or small!

Another trend in marketing we see is the use of chatbots!

Chatbots are AI-powered tools that can interact with your clients and customers in real-time. They can help customers find information, answer questions, and even make purchases.

Chatbots are becoming increasingly popular, and they are likely to become an essential part of marketing strategies in the future.

Should You Transition Away from Email List?

We aren't and nor should you.

While it might seem simpler to just be on social media, it might not be. Social media marketing also requires strategy, planning, specific call to actions, community engagement and more.

It does give you the opportunity to embrace new tactics that may be unfamiliar to you. It definitely can build your confidence.

It may also requires you to invest in new tools and technologies that can help you build your audience and analyze your data.

If you already have an email list, you may be reluctant to abandon these people. Yes, people. They are not just "contacts" they are real humans who saw value in YOU.

You built enough trust, so each human being felt safe to give you a valuable piece of personal information.

Their email address.

Ready to embrace email marketing?

If you are ready to embrace email marketing, what should you do first?

Besides finding an email platform that suits your needs, look at your current community. Reflect on what is going well, and where you may need to focus on next.

What does your current community WANT?
What are they buying, right now?

It may not be what you think they want.

When you take time to reflect on your current marketing strategy, the person you want to connect with and identify areas where you can improve, you will build your audience in an aligned way.

Yes this may involve investing in new technologies, such as AI and chatbots, or partnering with others to reach a broader audience.

You may need to experiment with different strategies and tactics to see what works best for you and your brand.

This may involve testing different social media platforms, creating different types of content, and getting more confortable with live and recorded video.

Email lists aren't going anywhere.

Email lists have been an essential part of marketing for years, while some may argue their effectiveness is declining, we all need to embrace new ideas, and create purposeful content to nurture our human need for deep community.

Will you need to invest in new tools and technologies?

You may.

Will you need time to be creative with a free resource or opt-in? Yes.

And if you DON'T have the time, we've done some heavy lifting for you. Our course content includes a simple Done For You sales funnel specific to detox and bioenergetic testing.
